What Hairstyle Suits My Face Shape?

Start with the effect you want—more width, more length, or softer framing—rather than treating your face shape as a rule. The same haircut can look different with a change of length, parting or styling.

How to identify your face shape

Pull your hair back and compare the relative width of your forehead, cheekbones and jaw, then the overall face length. Most faces sit between categories. You do not need a perfect label to choose a haircut.

Notice what you personally want to emphasize. If you like your cheekbones, ask for framing near them; if you want less upkeep, let that matter more than any shape chart.

Round, square and oval faces

For a round face, long layers, an off-center part or a textured lob can add a vertical line. A short pixie can work too when you like height at the crown. These are options, not restrictions.

For a square face, soft waves and face-framing layers can introduce curved lines; a sharper bob can work if you prefer definition. Oval faces can experiment with bobs, pixies, long layers and bangs. Compare where each cut lands against your features.

Heart-shaped and long faces

A chin-length bob or soft wave can add visual weight around the jaw of a heart-shaped face. Side-swept or curtain bangs offer another way to change the balance.

For a long face, shoulder-length volume or bangs may add perceived width. Very long, flat hair can emphasize length, but that may be exactly the look you want.

Make the decision with your own photo

Hair texture, density, growth pattern, styling time and your preferences all matter. Save two or three reference looks and discuss the length and upkeep with your stylist.

The comparison images here show hairstyle changes on one portrait; they do not demonstrate different face shapes or guarantee the same result on you. You can preview a selected style on your photo in TryOnMe; AI previews are illustrative, not a promise of a salon outcome.
